The Royal Danish Orchestra is the world’s oldest orchestra of its kind and its historical roots date back to 1448 to the Trompeterkorpset at the court of the Danish king, Christian I. The king's coronation took place to the accompaniment of brass instruments and percussions. At the HAVEN Festival 2018, the orchestra will perform together with Aaron and Bryce Dessner from The National in a new and exciting collaboration.
The Royal Danish Orchestra X Dessner will perform on Friday, 10. August 2018.
John Fulljames / The Royal Danish Opera:
"As the world’s oldest orchestra, the Royal Danish Orchestra has been playing new music longer than anyone else. So we are thrilled to be appearing at Haven with a fantastic programme of fresh Scandinavian, American and British sounds."
Bryce Dessner / The National:
"It's an honor to collaborate with the Royal Danish Orchestra to open the 2018 Haven Festival. Haven is all about sound and collaboration so it is a tremendous opportunity to begin the festival with one of the world's great orchestras performing an all contemporary program by some of our favorite composers."
