Los Angeles-based Phoebe Bridgers sings songs about David Bowie and Lemmy and in one of the most sarcastic break-up songs in recent years, she asks her ex-boyfriend “Hey, why do you sing with an English accent? I guess it’s too late to change it now”. Names such as Conor Oberst, Julien Baker and Ryan Adams have already declared themselves as fans and the latter has compared the young songwriter to Bob Dylan himself. Ryan Adams went into the studio with Phoebe Bridgers when she was only 20 after having only heard a few songs that Bridgers played acoustically for him during an impromptu meeting. The recording session resulted in the EP, ‘Killer EP’. After having toured for two years, Bridgers went back into the studio where she recorded her first full-length album ‘Stranger in the Alps’ that was released in late 2017. By the way, the aforementioned Conor Oberst performs as guest singer in the song ‘Would You Rather’ from the album. There is no doubt that she is a shooting star and that the world will hear much more about her – she is already supporting artists such as Bon Iver.
Phoebe Bridgers will perform on Friday, 10. August 2018.
